Last week, we celebrated our CEO Corey Taylor’s work in the community at the 7th annual RVA Community Makers event at the @vmfamuseum This community-activated art project honors African American leaders whose impact and influence strengthen our community. This year’s public art installation was sculpted vessels by Kourtenay Plummer celebrating each honoree, and was presented by Plummer and Hamilton Glass. On Saturday, February 8th, Peter Paul joined members of the Community Action Network (CAN) who also support youth, families & communities in a variety of ways, for a day filled with engagement! Neighbors were able to connect with vendors, eat together, and participate in a raffle for cash prizes. We appreciate everyone who came out to this impactful event!

Last week Peter Paul CEO, Corey Taylor, was honored to receive the award for the Outstanding Black-led Nonprofit in Richmond by Alpha East at this year’s VACAPAF (VA. Association of the Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.) Convention on behalf of Peter Paul RVA. This recognition included a monetary donation for general operations. We are thankful to the men of Alpha Phi Alpha for this recognition.

Luncheon to award small business startups in the East End of Richmond at the historic @robinson_theater. We were blessed today with two in-kind donations that will be used in distributions this week. The National Association of University Women-Richmond Branch brought cute holiday-themed boxes of non-perishables and The Bless Cookies Community Network contributed around 60 boxes of food and toys for the students. We recently celebrated our volunteers at River City Roll and a wonderful time was had by all! We presented five awards at the event: The Green Thumb Award, Community Partner Award, Educator's Choice Award, Cheryl Guedri Philanthropy Award, and Volunteer of the Year. The @boxwoodgardenclub braved the cold wind to install fresh native plants in our playground garden. New plants included Hardy Hibiscus, Milkweed for the Monarchs, and Golden Ragwort for flowers and shade.
