Innovative, creative, dynamic, qualified assistant teacher who aligns with the mission of The Peter Paul Development Center. Assistant teachers must have ambition, initiative, and passion to develop and support classroom teachers with the incorporation of 21st Century teaching/learning strategies in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teacher with implementation of daily lesson plans and group activities
  • Assist in developing critical thinking, reasoning, writing and grammar skills in support of overall classroom culture
  • Encourage group thinking, curiosity and discovery
  • Support teacher with incorporation Peter Paul Education Plans (PPEPS) for each student
  • Assist in the implementation of PPDC’s daily expectations and behavior system
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Commitment to total classroom engagement
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; currently enrolled in college courses
  • Experience working with elementary age students
  • Strong classroom management and organization skills
  • Experience and/or desire to work with high-potential students
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of current educational research
  • Understanding of and familiarity working in an urban setting

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education (preferred)
  • Experience working with Common Core State Standards
  • Experience working with SOL pacing guide
Salary:
$10/hr
Benefits:
Teacher’s assistants work Monday – Thursday or Monday – Friday, 12-16 hours as week and receive additional hours from team meetings & educational trainings.
