The Community Action Network (CAN) convenes and connects a collaborative of East End neighbors and area health and human service providers to encourage community unification and provide shared learning opportunities by breaking down silos, aligning efforts, and sharing accountability for services that support the East End community. Service providers walk alongside our neighbors with a goal of enhancing quality of life, while encouraging families and their children to rise academically and contribute to the well-being of the community.

EMPOWER THE COMMUNITY:  PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS

Through partnerships with other nonprofit organizations in the greater Richmond community, Peter Paul delivers additional supportive programming and services for our neighbors.

Z-LIFE Program

Z-LIFE (Leading Individuals to Foundational Employment) increases access to living-wage employment, wraparound services, mentorship, and entrepreneurial support to young adults ages 18-24 that reside in the City of Richmond. Peter Paul collaborates with the Richmond City Health District, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Office of Community Wealth Building to deliver this pilot program.

Senior Citizens Program

Our senior citizens’ program is designed for seniors who live in the Peter Paul neighborhood and are 50 years of age or older. Participants can attend twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays to enjoy lunch, chair exercises, and a variety of activities, including field trips, speakers, Bingo, and more. The goal is to keep senior citizens engaged and allow for social opportunities in the community! For more info and to join the program, contact Barbara Brown.

Food Distribution Program

Food distribution takes place the first and third Wednesday of each month. We need approximately 5 to 10 volunteers to help with registration, unloading food, sorting food and assisting clients with food selections.

8:30 am – 11:00 am

Info Feasts

The CAN, in partnership with area service providers, hosts a quarterly Info Feast that incorporates information and family mealtime. It is an opportunity to share helpful resources, gather neighborhood feedback and offer family friendly activities and entertainment in a fun and engaging event.

The Giving Wall

Peter Paul has partnered with @thegivingwall_richmond, where you can put your compassion into action by answering an urgent need from a fellow member of our community. Every day, we work with individuals and families in need of a helping hand. These needs have been exacerbated during this unprecedented, critical time. The Giving Wall makes it easy for you to be that helping hand. Simply visit the site, read stories of Believers asking for community support, select a need you can fulfill, and buy it. In a matter of hours, we’ll take your funds, purchase what’s needed, and have it in the hands and house of your fellow citizen. Visit thegivingwall.org for more information!

How does it work? Any youth or adult that resides within the East End of Richmond (zip codes 23223 and 23231) with 60% AMI is eligible to have qualifying needs, up to $250 each, placed on The Giving Wall twice within a calendar year.
